What makes Creme de Lamer worth big bucks?
7:49 AM
La Mer is known as one of the most wanted anti aging creams on the planet.
The core of the La Mer formulation is the nutrient-rich algae,
protective antioxidant extracts, and precious minerals.
A sleight of history about La Mer:
"Half a century ago, aerospace physicist Dr. Max Huber suffered burns in a laboratory accident. Neither medicine or science offered the benefits Huber desperately sought, so he began a personal quest to transform the look of his skin. After twelve years and 6,000 experiments, he perfected the precious, nutrient rich Miracle Broth, the heart of Lamer's profound powers of transformation.
Crème de la Mer, is a moisturizing cream containing fermented kelp. It was the first product developed by Dr. Max Huber to treat his severe chemical burns which he sustained in an accidental explosion during an experiment. Dr. Huber sold and marketed this product himself. After his death, his daughter continued selling the cream until Estée Lauder purchased the rights to manufacture and distribute it. La Mer in the past was affordable and could be purchased from pharmacy stores, until the brand was purchased by Estée Lauder, after which it became a high end brand."

Crème de la Mer made a huge splash years ago as the beauty product celebrities used to keep their skin looking young and some celebrity fans include Kim Kadarshian, Beyonce, Jessica Alba, and Rihanna. I even heard Mariah Carey uses La Mer as her twins diaper cream and as many people know J.Lo has also been using this cream for years, from head to toe. However, is it true that these celebrity fans really use Crème de la Mer as their daily treatment? Are they genuine or it's just another celebrity endorsement-script?
What makes Crème de la Mer worth big BUCKS?
The Moisturizing Cream - The Moisturizing Soft Cream - The Moisturizing Lotion - The Moisturizing Gel Cream - The Oil Absorbing Lotion
La Mer's Profound powers of transformation are derived from potent ingredients like nutrient-rich algae, protective antioxidant extracts and semi-precious stones. But what makes this jar really worth the big bucks? Well, I believe that it is because of their secret formula called The Miracle Broth™, the soul of Crème de la Mer.
What is The Miracle Broth™?
The Miracle Broth™ was first developed by Max Huber, a former NASA scientist who had suffered chemical burns. He designed his own treatment to treat his burns which he sustained in an accidental explosion during an experiment. He hand-harvested and fermented kelp with simple, pure ingredients. Then infusing them with light and sound until they became the Miracle Broth™, the cream that restored his skin. Today, the Miracle Broth™ lies at the heart of the La Mer skincare line. The specific ingredients of La Mer's Miracle Broth™ are patented and its extraordinary formulation remains as a secret.
The Moisturizing Soft Cream
I have been using La Mer products for quite a while now. In fact, I love La Mer! I can say that I am pretty much a fan of this French brand, especially for a healing purpose. Based on my experience, La Mer gives a truly smooth result to the skin even after the first application, also helps soothe and renew the skin. To be honest, I only use this cream when I have certain irritation problems on my skin because this cream works really well on my sensitive skin. Although the price is the biggest consideration over here, I personally think that the quality of La Mer ingredients somehow justifies the price. Remember, a little dab goes a long way; even a little jar can last a long time for me.
La Mer has SEVERAL types of moisturizer:
1. The most popular one is called Crème de la Mer (Ultrarich Cream), which is the original Moisturizing Cream that was invented by Dr. Max Huber. Crème de la Mer texture is fairly thick and I honestly do not recommend this one for younger skin types, whose skin tends to be more oily. But it might work better as a night treatment for younger skin since it can help reduce scars. After I tested this product with several persons within different ages and skin types, I came to the conclusion that Crème de la Mer best suits an older skin.
2. La Mer also has four other types of moisturizers, with that said, each of them is meant for different skin types. For instance, I am in my age 27 years old and I am currently using the lighter and softer cream version of Crème de la Mer, called The Moisturizing Soft Cream. FYI, I have the most common skin type which is a combination that requires products to target both oily and dry skin types. Most products that target oily skin, also reduce the amount of oil present on the surface of the skin and lots of times they dry out my skin. La Mer Moisturizing Soft Cream works great on my combination skin because it keeps my skin very moisture, however, without making my skin feel oily. Additionally, I routinely use pore cleanser to keep my pores clear from oil.
The Look of Crème de la Mer Sample Jar
(I strongly suggest to request for a sample first before you finally decide to buy them!)
How to use: Scoop a pea-sized amount of Crème de la Mer moisturizing cream with the provided spoon. Gently rub it between your fingers, the area where skin pores are smallest, taking care to avoid any unnecessary absorption. The cream is white but turns clear when warmed. And press into your cheeks, forehead, eye area, chin and neck until it has been completely absorbed.
Benefits: Very moisturizing, soft supple skin, dramatically shrinks pores, diminish fine lines, gets rid of acne scars, makes skin radiant, and evens out skin tone.
I truly understand that La Mer is not for everyone; since the price is too high for some people. And I am sure there are still many good affordable products out there. However, for people who love La Mer products, I hope that you enjoy this post!
Product Ingredients: Seaweed (algae) Extract, Mineral Oil (as emollient), Petrolatum, Glycerin, Isohexadecane (as thickening agent and emusilfier), Lime Extract, Microcrystalline Wax, Lanolin Alcohol, Sesame Seed Oil, Eucalyptus Leaf Oil, Alfalfa Seeds, Sunflower Seeds, Powdered Almonds, Paraffin, Vitamin E, Vitamin B3, Beta-carotene, Vitamin B12, Decy Oleate, Alumunium Distearate, Octyldodecanol, Citric Acid, Magnesium Stearate, Panthenol, Limoene, Geraniol, Linalool, Hydroxicitronellaal, Citronellol, Benzyl Salicylate, Citral, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Alcohol Denat, Fragrance (Light Floral Scent)
Type of skin: Good for dry or very dry skin since the cream is fairly thick, so if you have normal to oily skin, it is best applied at "night time-only".
Will I re-purchase? Yes, definitely!

DeleteThanks for the further information on the brand - my mum has been using products by the brand for many years now and I've always been curious. I particularly like the sound of the pore-reducing qualities, as I have a feeling that's what I'm in need of right now!

Thank you for the lovely comment, Tania! Yeah, I agree with you. The price is also the only thing I always consider every time I want to restock this product. But don't forget that you can always ask the counter salesperson for a little jar of sample first and see if you like it, then make a purchase :)
DeleteI've spent upwards of $250 in the past on brand such as La Mer and Sisley, and I feel like my skin responds even better to the Somaluxe Rapid Line Filler. Its a fraction of the price ($24). I was skeptical of this product at first; mostly because of its bold claims surrounding hydration and cell growth.
ReplyDeleteBut so far I’m pleasantly surprised – especially in regards to my skin’s moisture level throughout the day. Previous moisturizers left my face a bit dry after applying makeup, but this is the first product that has truly improved the texture and tone of my skin overall, as well as helped it retain a feeling of elasticity from morning until night.
Thanks for your valuable comment and suggestion. I'd love to try your amazing recommendation!
Deletethanks for shearing this post.. nice blog
